Certain real estate agents have certain skills that make them a better match for certain people. I’m not a good match for some people or I may be exactly the type of Stratford CT real estate agent that you’re looking for.

The absolutely worst thing you can do is just choose a real estate company by throwing a dart at the board. I deal with local real estate companies and their agents regularly and there are some very unprofessional Stratford CT real estate companies. The last thing you want to do is get hooked up with one of those companies.

Don't Get Consumed By The Sharks

Too many people choose a Stratford CT real estate company by responding to their advertising. You see a house for sale or respond to an ad to sell your house for a low commission. You call that real estate company and the next thing you know, you are working with a company that you don’t really know anything about.

The best way to choose a company is by getting recommendations from friends. It seems that nearly everyone know a good real estate company in Stratford and most are more than happy to recommend one as well as tell you their agents name. For every company that they recommend they will probably also be able to tell you about two real estate companies that they don’t trust. Make sure to ask that question as well.

If you can’t get a recommendation from a friend than ask any Stratford CT real estate company for testimonials from their clients. Most good companies and every good real estate agent will collect testimonials from their satisfied clients. Many of those past clients would even be more than happy to have you call them. I find that most people are more than happy to brag about their agent if they had a good relationship with them and their company.

Do you have razor sharp boundaries?

Do real estate agents have boundaries? You can tell a lot about a real estate agent by how they respect your boundaries.

Before we discuss real estate agents here is Stratford CT or nationally consider this.

Think about children. Do they have boundaries? Of course not! They have no boundaries at all. I know my kids, they climb all over me and if the bathroom door isn’t locked they might just walk in there on me.

How about big business? Take for example Countrywide Mortgage. When the floodgates were open and houses were selling like 5 cent draft beers at a football game, what did they do? They had no boundaries either. They climbed all over you and disrespected your boundaries. They took advantage of you and took what they wanted instead of giving you what you needed.

Do real estate agents have boundaries? Can some agents be overly aggressive by disrespecting your boundaries?

Do some real estate agents respect your boundaries? Do they back off when you want them to and guide you in the right direction when you need them to.

I hope it’s the latter. I believe the problem for most real estate agents is that everyone has different boundaries. Discovering your boundaries is part of a real estate agents job but you as the client also has to define those boundaries for your agent. I hope that they pick pick up on the clues to find your boundaries.

Don’t be afraid to say no or tell your agent the honest truth, whatever the truth may be.
